Eau Claire, Wisconsin (08/09/2006): Charlie Menard and his Menards Home Improvement Racing Team call the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts home for the 2006 season.

After making two appearances in 2005 with one of those resulting in a win in the Coca-Cola/Oktoberfest 100 at his home track of the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin, Menard had and still does have high hopes for the 2006 ASALMS season.

“It’s been an up and down year so far, with getting caught up in a turn one wreck at Nashville really putting us in a hole points wise.” Menard said as he talked about the 2006 season so far. “Then having a motor let go on the first lap of the Berlin race, well luck hasn't been on our side.” He added.

Currently Menard stands eighth in the 2006 ASALMS Challenge Division Points Standings despite his bad luck at Nashville and then Berlin. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin veteran has posted three Top Five finishes including a season high of fourth twice.

The first fourth place finish came at the Madison (WI) International Speedway on May 27, 2006 during the Miller Lite 200. Menard finished fourth after leading the first 124 laps. Two weeks later, a second straight fourth place showing came out East at the Oswego (NY) Speedway on June 10, 2006 during the Fleet Pride 200.

Overall Menard has four Top 10s in seven starts in the crown jewel of the ASALMS, the televised Challenge Division. In addition, Menard has also made three starts in the companion ASALMS Northern Division where he recently finished a season high, for the North, fifth in the last event, the Wisconsin 151 Presented by Sign 1-1 at the Columbus 151 (WI) Speedway.

“In between we have had some solid runs and I am still looking forward to the series returning to the Midwest and having some great finishes.” Menard continued. “I hope that includes another ASALMS victory here real soon!” Added the 33-year-old, whose cousin is NASCAR Busch Series Driver, Paul Menard.

“I really believe New York is going to be a break out race for us. It will be interesting to say the least with none of the regulars having been at the track before.” Continued Menard when talking about Adirondack. “We’ve heard a lot of stories about the track, like it being big circle with no straights.” Ended Menard.

Menard's 2005 season began and ended with wins! An impressive win at Speedfest 2005 at the USA (FL) International Speedway and then during the ASALMS Coca-Cola/Oktoberfest 100 at his home track of the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway.

In addition to his ASALMS Oktoberfest win, Menard would go on to win two more features during the prestigious weekend to complete the Oktoberfest Hat Trick!

The C.O.O. (Chief Operating Officer) of the nationwide Menards Home Improvement chain of stores had a banner 2004 season as well. Menard won the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Midwest Regional Champion as well as 2004 LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway track champion with six feature wins.

Among those wins were two victories during the 2004 Oktoberfest in both the Wisconsin Late Models feature as well as the LaCrosse Late Models feature. Another impressive accomplishment during the 2004 season was his fifth place showing at the 24 hours of Daytona.

The Eau Claire, Wisconsin driver began his racing career in go-karts on various asphalt road courses when he was eight years old. Over the years, Menard has also ran in Ice racing where he picked up the International Ice Racing Association Champion in 1995.

Menard has also seen time in IMSA and Grand Am Cup Sedan Racing where he placed a third in the GT 2004 Daytona 24-hour event. Menard also has won several Legend Cars Championships, raced some shows in the old ASA Tour.

For the remainder of the 2006 season, Menard will steer his 2006 Ford Fusion for a run at the ASALMS Challenge Division Championship! In addition, Menard will run select shows within the ASALMS Northern Division as well as the Wisconsin Challenge Series and weekly events at his home track of LaCrosse.
