West Bend, Wisconsin (04/12/2006): The crown jewel of the three ASA Late Model Series divisions, the televised Challenge Division has two events now in the record books.

The next event for the ASALMS Challenge Division is several weeks away at the Madison (WI) International Speedway near Madison, in Oregon, Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday May 26-27 for the running of the Wisconsin 200.

The young, up and coming drivers that run the ASALMS combined with the skilled veterans who regularly run the series make the 2006 driver roster in the ASALMS amongst the best overall in the United States.

It’s an accomplishment just to make the show thus far in the two events held as several prominent drivers in the country have failed to make either the first event in Nashville or the second in San Antonio, or in some cases, both events

One driver who’s stepped up his game and hasn’t looked out of place at all so far in the 2006 season is the senior member of the “Young Lions of the ASALMS”! Travis Dassow continued his fast start in the ASALMS Challenge Division with another solid Top 10 finish.

Dassow, finished seventh in the Alamo 200 down at the San Antonio (TX) Speedway. In addition to driving duties during the weekend road trip in the Lone Star State, Dassow also had a teammate for the weekend in veteran Canadian pilot, Pete Vanderwyst.

Besides setting up his own ride for the Alamo 200, Dassow also served a car chief for Vanderywst, a veteran of the CASCAR Super Series wars in neighboring Canada. The 19-year-old provided the setup on the back-up machine and made the calls for changes throughout race weekend.

Things looked good early for Vanderwyst who qualified an impressive ninth, just two positions behind Dassow and drew the outside pole for the 200-lap feature. Vanderwyst had a Top Five car all race long until contact with another driver sent Vanderwyst hard into the Turns three and four wall and done for the evening.

“I’m just amazed that Travis knew and did as much as he did all weekend on his car and ours.” Stated Vanderwyst. “I can’t believe the kid is only 19 and to do what he does on the budget they have is outstanding. I really appreciate all that Travis and the rest of the team did for me this past weekend.” Added Vanderwyst.

“Without the whole team working as hard as they did, we would not have had the results both Travis and I expected. They need to be recognized, especially Travis.” Continued Vanderwyst. “It really was a great trip to Texas, and no matter what, we’ll “Remember the Alamo”. Laughed Vanderwyst!

As for Dassow himself, the West Bend, Wisconsin driver started the weekend off by qualifying a solid seventh out of the 38 cars on hand. Just two spots ahead of his teammate for the weekend! With the maximum 10 inversion drawn, Dassow would find himself starting on the outside of the second row for the 200-lap feature.

The West Bend, Wisconsin driver, fell in line with the rest of the pack while the field sorted themselves out. Dassow briefly dropped out of the Top 10 before working his way back through the pack. Dassow would take care of his equipment all race long and was rewarded with a solid seventh place showing.

"Having Pete (Vanderwyst) as a teammate this past weekend really helped us both in getting both cars better all weekend long.” Remarked Dassow as he reflected on his first ever appearance in the Lone Star Sate. “Plus the Woods Brothers Team and Chad Wood helped us out a ton again this weekend.” He added.

“I think it’s definitely an advantage to have a teammate that you can work with.” Dassow continued. “Overall we didn't know what to expect going into the weekend and we were just hoping to get out of there with a top 10 finish." He added.

Dassow will head to Madison in less than two months sitting an impressive sixth in the season long ASALMS Challenge Division points standings. With his seventh place finish in San Antonio, Dassow is now solidly in the Top 10 and is just on the outside cusp of the Top Five in the season long points standings, a mere one point behind Waffle House 200 winner in Nashville last month, Eddie Hoffman. 296-295.

“Our goal this year was to be more consistent and be contending every week, and I think we have done a very good job of doing that so far.” Dassow continued. We’ve got two top 10's in the first two races against the best competition anywhere in the country! “After the long haul to and from San Antonio. it’ll be nice to have a little time off, and having our next race being one of our home tracks." Dassow ended.

After a couple of weeks off, the T.D. Racing Team will look ahead to the 2006 opener at Dassow’s home track of the Slinger (WI) Super Speedway, just down the road from Dassow’s home town of West Bend, in Slinger, Wisconsin.

Sunday April 23rd will be the 2006 door opener at the ultra fast 1/4 mile high-banked paved oval of the Slinger Super Speedway. Slinger is located just Northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is celebrating it’s 60th continuous season of auto racing with the running of the Miller Lite Twin 75s for the track’s premiere Late Models division.

For the 2006 season, Travis Dassow and the T.D. Racing Team are highly regarded as a solid championship contender in the ASALMS Challenge Division. Based on his first two events of the season, Dassow has backed up the onlookers predictions.

In addition to his ASALMS Challenge Division and Slinger schedules, Dassow also is looking at running select events within the ASALMS Northern Division and plans on running in the ASALMS Northern Division opener at the I-70 (MO) Speedway in Odessa, Missouri on Friday and Saturday May 5-6.

Dassow finished an impressive fifth in his lone appearance at the wicked fast high-banks last season on June 18, 2005 during the KC Star 100 ASALMS Event.

Dassow will carry sponsorship for the 2006 season on the side of his Pontiac Grand Prix from: Nestle and Willy Wonka Candy as well as the YTB Travel Network. In addition, Bob Fish Pontiac/Buick/GMC, Gary’s Auto Repair, Choice Equipment, V.S.A. Vi-star, Seven Mile Fair, G-W Vendors, and M.P.H. Promotions will also sport decals on Dassow’s efforts.
