Wisconsin Driver Takes Early Points Lead In National Touring Series
(Milwaukee, WI) Besides at Madison International Speedway in 1998,
for the first time in his twelve year racing career Madison’s (WI) Chad Wood
leads the early season points standing in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series.
Wood who has had a solid third and fourth place finish at Nashville, TN and
San Antonio, TX, so far in 2006. Hopes to continue to carry his momentum
throughout the 2006 season, which has carried over from the 2005 season, where
the 30 year old driver finished third in the season long points standing in
the ASA Late Model Series. Posting an impressive 9 top 5 finishes and 12
top 10 finishes in 14 starts in 2005. Wood also, captured two pole
awards last season in which he set new track records at both Calhoun County
Speedway (MI) and Jennerstown Speedway (PA).
Wood who has had numerous super late model feature wins at Madison
International Speedway in Oregon, WI. Competed on the old ASA National
Tour for five seasons where he posted 8 top 5 finishes and captured several
pole awards throughout the history of that series, but victory lane has eluded
Wood this far in both the old ASA and current ASALM Series.
Chad, who was honored the 2005 ASALMS Sportsmanship of the Year Award, was
considered to be a pre-season favorite to capture the Series Championship in
2006 and he hopes this to be a banner year for himself and his Madison (WI)
based Wood Brothers Racing Team. Carrying Corporate Support from TDS
Metrocom , Nashville Recording Artists; Emerson Drive, Trackside Charities,
Sign 1-1 Designs, Club LaMark, Mothers Polishes Waxes & Cleaners,
Dayco Belts, Fastenal and Dynomite Shocks so far this season. It will
only be a matter of time before the blue number 2 TDS Metrocom Ford pulls into
victory lane this season in the touring series. Wood also plans on
running a number of weekly events at Madison International Speedway during the
2006 season.
As many Wisconsin tracks get underway later this month and in May. So
will the ASA Late Model Northern Series, as they visit the Badger State on
Saturday May 20th at the Lake Geneva Raceway for the Lake Geneva 100.
As for the top guns of the ASA Late Model Series, the Challenge Division will
be off until they kick off the holiday weekend in Wisconsin, when the
series comes to Woods’ hometown track of Madison International Speedway on
Saturday May 27th in Oregon, WI, for the Madison 200. The start of a
doubleheader weekend ending on Monday May 29th at Grundy County Speedway in
Morris, IL for the George Appleton Memorial 100 for the Northern
Division. The ASA Late Model Challenge Series will return to Wisconsin
to the famed Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, WI on August 26th, with the
Northern Division making a return stop at MIS in Oregon, WI on August
4th.
