West Bend, Wisconsin (03/23/2006): The young, up and coming drivers that run
the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts combined with the
skilled veterans who regularly run the series make the 2006 driver roster in
the ASALMS something to behold.
One driver who’s looking forward to the challenges and the increased
competition for the 2006 season is the senior member of the “Young Lions of
the ASALMS”! Travis Dassow will be awaiting those looking to make their
mark, along-with the returning cast of ASALMS contenders during the 2006
season.
Dassow, who has been deemed the “Patriarch” of the “Young Lions of the
ASALMS” is widely considered amongst their peers and observers as one of the
young, rising stars in the ASALMS to watch for the 2006 season!
The West Bend, Wisconsin driver, who celebrated his 19th birthday at the Music
City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee as the ASALMS kicked off the 2006
season with the Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar General. Dassow left
Music City with a very respectable 10th place showing at the historic .596
mile high-banked paved oval.
Dassow earned himself a spot in the Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar
General by qualifying 18th out of the 52 stout cars on hand. Travis started
outside the ninth row and after avoiding a first lap pile-up in turn one with
minimal damage, Dassow steadily picked off cars one by one in the 200-lap
feature.
Despite going a lap down to the leaders, Dassow kept pace with eventual
winner, Eddie Hoffman, and the rest of the Top Three the rest of the 200-lap
affair and earned a hard fought 10th place showing in the first ever televised
ASALMS Challenge Division event.
"After having the mishap early in the race, I thought we were going to be
in for a long and non successful race.” Stated Dassow. “But hard work paid
off and not giving up we ended up with a good finish. I know we had a better
car then where we finished, but you can't complain when you bring your car
back in one piece and stay competitive all race." He added.
The T.D. Racing Team now looks forward to the second event of the 2006 season
for the ASALMS Challenge Division. The Alamo 200 on Friday and Saturday March
31st and April 1st down at the San Antonio (TX) Speedway in San Antonio,
Texas.
"After Nashville I know that I can run very competitively and look
forward to the rest of the year." Dassow continued. “We just didn't
have quite enough to get past the first two guys and get our lap back, it took
a couple of laps to get my car going and by the time the car came in I was
already shuffled back behind the leaders on the restarts.” He added.
Dassow will head to San Antonio sitting 10th in the season long ASALMS
Challenge Division points standings, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed to
Dassow when looking at the big picture. “The car is in good shape and
looking forward to San Antonio. We’re fighting for a championship and this
is a very good start for us.” He ended.
For the 2006 season, Travis Dassow and the T.D. Racing Team are looking at
contending for the ASALMS Challenge Division championship and in the process
get that coveted first career ASALMS feature win!

Northern Division title as well as running on Sunday nights, when the schedule
