Culver's Racing Team now looks ahead to the rest of the
2006 season within the ASA Late Model Series.

Lexington, Michigan (03/21/2006): The ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division
has completed race number one of the 2006 season. Wheaton, Illinois veteran,
Eddie Hoffman took the big win in the Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar
General.
Prior to the 200-lap feature, the ASALMS Challenge Division ran the 25-lap GM
Performance Parts Shootout for drivers who unfortunately did not qualify into
the 200-lap A Main. Last season, drivers did not transfer to the main event
from the Shootout and that is once again the case in 2006.
For the 2006 ASALMS Challenge Division opener however, ASALMS
Founder/President, Ron Varney and Music City Promoter, Jack Deery had other
ideas! For this event only, the Top Two in the GMPP Shootout were allowed to
transfer to the back of the Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar
General.
With extra incentive up for grabs, the drivers within the GMPP Shootout put on
a good old fashioned Saturday night bullring battle at the historic .596 mile
high-banked paved oval. When all was said and done, Pardeeville, Wisconsin
driver, Frank Kreyer took home the first GM Performance Parts Shootout of the
2006 season!
“I didn’t realize how close those guys were behind me.” Laughed Kreyer
as he talked about his win in his first appearance in the ASALMS. “We had a
real good car and real happy to win for Culver’s and to able to transfer to
the feature.” He added.
Kreyer started on the outside front row along-side Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie
title contender and fellow “Cheese Head”, Ken Wills. Kreyer would beat out
Wills to the first corner and would show the way around the historic Tennessee
State Fairgrounds oval while several drivers battled behind him for the last
transfer spot.
Through it all, Kreyer kept his lead and the Pardeeville, Wisconsin driver
would go on to win the GM Performance Parts Shootout and transfer to the
Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar General.
For the Waffle House 200 Presented by Dollar General only, Kreyer would
transfer, along-with second place finisher, Dan Lensing, to the main 200-lap
feature. Kreyer and Lensing would start 29th and 30th starting spots
respectively. As for the finishing order of the GMPP Shootout, Wills finished
third ahead of Jim Ross, John Bolen, Jenny White, Robbins, Chase Austin, Kyle
Martel, and Joe Ross, who completed the Top 10.
During the 200-lap feature, Kreyer was passing cars and got up as high as 15th
before losing his mount heading into turn three and slamming hard into the
turns three and four wall! He was ok, but done for the evening.
“We got tapped from behind and it sent us in the wall.” Continued Kreyer.
“It was a brand new car and it’s disappointing to have to replace the rear
clip on it, but we’ll be ready for Texas. I’ve never raced radial tires,
never ran a crate motor, and never even seen Nashville before this weekend.”
Kreyer continued.
“But all things considered it was a fun weekend, except for the wreck.
We’re real excited about racing in the ASALMS this season. The teching was
just awesome, the organization of the series and procedures were very
impressive.” He ended.
As the ASALMS Challenge Division heads into the Lone Star State and the
Inaugural Alamo 200 at the San Antonio (TX) Speedway in San Antonio, Texas on
Friday and Saturday March 31st and April 1st, Kreyer will pull into the ½
mile semi-banked paved oval as the current points leader in the GM Performance
Parts Shootout Points Standings.
During the 2005 season, Kreyer ran full-time with the Wisconsin Challenge
Series where he finished 10th in the final points chase. He also ran part-time
in the CRA Super Series as well as various specials in and around his home
state of Wisconsin.
Kreyer began his racing career in Junior Cup Series in 1995, which are ½
scale NASCAR replicas. From 1995-1999, Kreyer won the championship in four
straight seasons from 1995-1998. In 1999, Kreyer ran a part-time schedule in
Junior Cups while also crewing on Jason Schuler NASCAR Midwest Series team. In
2000 Kreyer advanced to the Super Late Model ranks at the Madison (WI)
International Speedway and the Wisconsin Dells (WI) Speedway.
During that 2000 season, Kreyer picked up his first career feature win at
Wisconsin Dells while also picking up the Rookie of the Year title despite
limited appearances. In 2001, Kreyer returned to Wisconsin Dells full-time
while also competing part-time in the Wisconsin Challenge Series. At the
Dells, Kreyer finished third while picking up two feature wins. For the 2002
season Kreyer ran at various facilities in the state of Wisconsin.
The following season in 2003 was back at Wisconsin Dells and full-time in the
Wisconsin Challenge Series. Kreyer picked up two more feature wins in two big
events at the Dells, Mountain Dew 100 and the Budweiser 100. The Pardeeville,
Wisconsin fourth in points at the Dells and in the WCS. The 2004 season saw
Kreyer run with the CRA Super Series as well as the Wisconsin Challenge
Series.
Kreyer will run the full schedule of events within the ASALMS Challenge
Division as well as select appearances in the ASALMS Northern Division. In
addition Kreyer will also run the full slate of events within the Wisconsin
Challenge Series.
