Cassill Heading To Nashville After ASALMS Southern Division Opener
By: Cassill Motorsports-Aspire P.R.
Fairfax, Iowa (03/10/2006): Landon Cassill and his Cassill Motorsports Ford
Fusion have completed their first ASA Late Model Series event of the 2006
season.
The 16-year-old finished 13th in the inaugural ASALMS Southern Division event,
the Coors Light 100 at the Bronson (FL) Motor Speedway in Bronson, Florida on
Saturday March 4th.
Landon qualified second quick of the 20 entries on hand with a lap of 13.345
seconds, just .06 off the pole time of 13.285 set by fellow Northern invader,
Ryan Carlson.
“We didn’t make an adjustment on the car all day, it was that awesome.
It’s nice to come down here and not worry about points, and just try to go
and win for ARP Bodies and Port City Racecars” said Landon.
After the inversion, Landon started fifth for the 100-lap ASALMS South opener.
On lap 25 Landon made a move on third place Dillon Oliver, when contact sent
the #7 Cassill Motorsports entry spinning in turn one.
After being sent to the rear of the field, Landon fought his way back to
contend for the 10th position before more contact sent him to the back for the
second time of the night on lap 85. With only 15 laps remaining Landon rode to
a 13th place finish.
“I rode around following third place for 20 laps, being patient, biding my
time, and he plain chopped me going into turn one.” Cassill explained.
“That’s ok, its no points, but just a shame. I’m so proud of this team,
the car was so awesome all weekend” said Landon.
Next up for the Cassill Motorsports Ford Fusion is the 2006 opener for the
televised ASALMS Challenge Division on Friday and Saturday March 17-18 at the
historic Music City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee for the running of
the Waffle House/Spring Clash 200.
“We’re really excited about going to Nashville, we’ve got two really
good cars, the track is really fast and I like it a lot.” Continued Cassill.
Cassill is highly regarded as one of top title contenders in the upcoming 2006
season in the televised ASALMS Challenge Division. His season has already
gotten off to a fast start when he finished second in the final Florida
Speedweeks Points Standings at the New Smyrna (FL) Speedway.
Cassill will be doing double duty in Nashville as the 16-year-old Hawkeye
State driver will also compete in the companion CRA Super Series event, the
All-American 150.
