Schumacher Gearing Up For 2006 ASALMS Appearances
By ASA Late Model Series Staff
February 13th, 2006
Lexington, Michigan (02/13/2006): The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM
Performance Parts has enjoyed a strong contingent of top drivers from the
state of Wisconsin in the last several seasons.
Names like; Chad Wood, Travis Dassow, Brett Piontek, and Jason Tyler are but a
few of the Wisconsin pilots that add to an already stellar field of cars week
in and week out in the ASALMS. Add one more name to that list in Hartford
Wisconsin driver, Nick Schumacher.
Schumacher, the 2005 Rookie of the Year in the Super Late Models division at
the Slinger (WI) Super Speedway has thrown his name into the proverbial hat
for the 2006 season and will compete in select events in both the ASALMS
Challenge and Northern Divisions during the upcoming season!
“I’m really excited with the success of the ASALM Series. After looking at
the schedules, I knew we needed to be a part of the awesome series. However
with us running a limited schedule, it will not be a easy transition.”
Stated Schumacher as he discussed his plans for the 2006 season.
“There are a lot of drivers that have run the series full time, and really
know their stuff. From looking at the list of drivers, the competition is
potentially the toughest in any traveling series throughout the country.”
Schumacher continued. “So for us, we want to be as competitive as possible.
Get top five’s and top 10’s, and don’t wreck!
Schumacher then added; “We can then build for 2007 and maybe run full time
in one or more of the ASALMS divisions. With the support from our chassis
builder (Pathfinder), pit crew, and sponsors, hopefully you’ll see the #16
running up front.” Schumacher ended.
In 2005, the Hartford, Wisconsin driver had a successful first season with
Team 16 Motorsports. Schumacher won Slinger’s Rookie of the Year award and
finished eighth in the championship points. The 20-year-old also won the Alan
Kulwicki Memorial feature event at Slinger in May 2005.
In three consecutive seasons, Schumacher has driven in three different Slinger
divisions and has one at least one feature win in each. Schumacher also had
two starts in the MARS Series and three starts in the NASCAR AutoZone Midwest
Series. In August, Schumacher qualified second at the NASCAR Midwest event at
Lake Geneva Raceway and finished sixth in the Oktoberfest event at LaCrosse
(WI) Fairgrounds Speedway.
In 2004, Schumacher drove his own #4 ASA Late Model at the Madison (WI)
International Speedway (MIS). During this rookie season at MIS, Schumacher
finished sixth in championship points. Also in 2004, Schumacher took to the
wheel of an open-wheeled modified at Slinger Speedway and brought home a
feature win.
In 2003, Schumacher won the Sportsman Track Championships at Slinger!
Schumacher concluded the season with five feature wins, three fast times and
three other race wins. Schumacher also finished third in championship points
for the Midwest Sportsman Series.
From 1999-2002, Schumacher spent his time in the Mid-American Sportsman
division, prior to his Sportsman career, Schumacher also wheeled Legends cars
and Go-Karts.
For the 2006 season, the Team 16 Motorsports crew will be extremely busy as in
addition to their select appearances with the ASALMS, Schumacher and crew will
also run weekly back at Slinger in an attempt to win the track title and then
filling any time with the ASALMS car at Madison on Friday nights.
Schumacher will carry sponsorship on the side of his Pathfinder Chassis
Chevrolet Monte Carlo from; Custom Fleet Maintenance and Parts, Ram Tool,
Sonya’s Rose Creative Florals and Gifts, Stelzl Truck Wash, Motor Masters
Racing Equipment, and Schaeffers Oil Products.
The hard working Team 16 Motorsports crew consists of car owners; Sonya and
Dan Delcamp as well as his wife, Amy Schumacher and the rest of the crew,
which consists of; Jimmie Schumacher, Mike Hussman, Doug Droese, Joe Delcamp,
Mark Apel, Steve Apel, Lenny Gallenberg, Rob Deming, Ron Deming, and Luke
