Mackinaw, Illinois Neville Brothers To Run In ASALMS In 2006

Lexington, Michigan (01/20/2006): As the 2006 season for the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts gets closer, new and returning teams alike are preparing for the fast approaching 2006 campaign. 

The traveling involved within all three division's of the ASALMS will see the cars and stars of the series to venture all over the United States and visit some of the finest facilities in the country. A new team that has entered the ASALMS for the 2006 season is coming full loaded with a two-car team that will see one driver make a run at the ASALMS Northern Division. The second car will see two more drivers share the ride with both anticipating Rookie of the Year runs in 2007.

Buzz Motorsports, based out of Pendleton, Indiana has announced their intentions for the 2006 season. Mackinaw, Illinois brothers Nick and Derek Neville will make the huge transition from the dirt tracks of the Midwest in UMP Modifieds, into the ultra competitive ASALMS. 

Nick Neville's plans for the 2006 season include a full out campaign for the ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year, along with several appearances in ASALMS Challenge and Southern Divisions. The 18-year-old will also continue to compete regularly on various Illinois dirt facilities in his UMP Modified.

"I want to learn as much as I can as the season progresses and hopefully we can compete for the Rookie title in the Northern Division." Stated Nick Neville as he eagerly anticipates the 2006 season with the ASALMS Northern Division. "We went to a few shows in 05 and this season, just to be a part of such a talented group of drivers is an honor in itself, plus I want to run well against them too and I know we can!" Nick added. 

His older brother, Derek Neville's plans for the 2006 season will consist of competing in selected races from all three ASALMS divisions with an eye on the Rookie title in 2007. The 20-year-old Neville Brother will also continue to compete regularly on the dirt tracks in Illinois in his UMP Modified as well.

"Brian (Zeigler) and I will split time in the car for this season and next year, I'm going to go all out for the Northern Division Rookie title, like my brother is doing this season!" Added older brother Derek Neville. "I look forward to learning as much as possible in the shows I do run and that can only help for 2007. Plus running against drivers you normally read about is going to be exciting, that's for sure." Derek added. 

The Neville Brother's car owner, Brian Zeigler, the owner of Buzz Motorsports, will share the car that Derek plans on competing in for the 2006 season with select shows in all three divisions within the ASALMS. "I just hope I can keep with these young guys!" Laughed Zeigler as he talked about the 2006 season. "I'm very fortunate to have two young talented drivers as these guys and I know theyre going to do well this season." Zeigler added. 

Both drivers are tentatively scheduled to make their ASALMS debut in the Southern Division's third race of the season at the Beech Bend (KY) Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Saturday April 29th. 

The Neville Brothers both hope to get some seat time prior to the Beech Bend 100 with two weekly shows at I-70 (MO) Speedway, a 100 lapper and a 50 lap affair, during their first two Super Saturday events in April for the tracks weekly ASA Late Model Division. 

Then the Brothers Neville, plan on heading to Beech Bend before returning to I-70 a week later for the ASALMS Northern Division opener on Saturday May 6th for the Show-Me 100. 

Nick began racing Quarter Midgets on dirt in 1997 at the age of nine. Switching to asphalt the following season proved to be a good choice. Over the course of four years he managed to rack up three Track Championships, 77 feature wins along with several track records. He was also inducted into the Mini-Indy Quarter Midget Hall of Fame!

During the 2002 season, Nick competed locally in the Four-Cylinder Mini-Stock division. The eighth grade student proceeded to post five Feature wins in only 12 starts! That success propelled Nick to advance to the ultra competitive UMP open wheeled Modified division in 2003. 

During the past three seasons, Nick has traveled throughout the entire Midwest competing in over 150 feature events at 26 different tracks. His list of accomplishments is impressive with dozens of heat race wins, 28 top five feature finishes and two feature wins, all while still in high 
school!

Older Brother, Derek began racing Quarter Midgets on dirt in 1997 at the age of 11. In his rookie season he raced to an impressive 12 A-main feature wins. The following three seasons, he split his time between both dirt and asphalt tracks, enjoying success on both surfaces and accumulating a total of 53 feature wins!

Derek conquered the high banks of the Mini-Indy Speedway during the 2000 season, winning the Honda points championship while setting numerous track records and was later inducted into the Mini-Indy Quarter Midget Hall of Fame. During the 2002 season, Derek competed locally in the Four cylinder Mini-Stock division at the Peoria, (IL) Speedway where, he won four feature events including the Pepsi Mid-Season Championship.

2003 saw him move to the UMP Open Wheel Modified division. During the past three seasons, Derek has racked up dozens of heat race wins and several top five feature finishes. He placed fourth in the final 2005 point standings at the Farmer City (IL) Raceway against a stellar field of competitors that included the 2005 UMP National Modified Champion and a former UMP Modified National Champion!

Both Neville Brothers will run identically prepared Lefthander Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlos and both machines will carry sponsorship from; Ben E. Neville Roll-Off Service, Howard's Construction, Signs of Success, Hutton Motorsports, Percy's HP, Chris Clark Cars, Zeigler Enterprises, and Buzz Motorsports.
