Lexington, Michigan 01/19/2006): The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts is about to embark on the most anticipated seasons in recent memory. All three schedules within the ASALMS will have the cars and stars of the ASALMS traveling to some of the most immaculate facilities in the country.

One of the newest speedways in the country will be hitting its fifth birthday in 2006 and the ASALMS Northern Division will help celebrate the milestone. The beautiful Lake Erie (PA) Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania will host the Northern Series on Friday June 9th for the second running of the Erie 100.

"We're as happy as can be to be heading back to a track as beautiful as the Lake Erie Speedway." Remarked ASALMS Founder/President, Ron Varney. "This will be a great race and the first opportunity for the cars of the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Racing Alliance (MARRA) to run head to head again our best! It's going to be a great show!" Varney added.

In the ASALMS only appearance at Lake Erie Speedway back on May 29, 2004, New Philadelphia, Ohio veteran, Ryan Tedesco would win his first career feature in the ASALMS. Tedesco took the lead from Chad Wood on lap 58 and would go on to win the first Erie 100 over Wood, Doug True, Dan Jung, and Landon Cassill who would complete the top five. Jason Setser holds down the ASALMS track record at LES with a time measured at 15.291 seconds.

"We are extremely excited to be hosting the ASA Late Model Series. This will be a great opportunity for our local racers to compete against some of the best talent in the country." Stated Joe Lewandoski, General Manager for Lake Erie Speedway.

It was recently announced that five premier asphalt motor sports facilities in Western New York and Western Pennsylvania have banded together to form the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Racing Alliance (MARRA) for the 2006 season. Lake Erie Speedway is part of that alliance.

Two more tracks that will host the ASALMS in 2006; Jennerstown (PA) Speedway and Motordrome Speedway are also a part of the MARRA and have agreed to work together to standardize late model car specifications and have established a five race championship series of races for the 2006 season.

In addition the Holland (NY) Speedway and the Lancaster (NY) Speedway are also part of the MARRA! The rules and regulations will closely resemble those of the ASALMS!

This will be the fifth season of operation for the North East, Pennsylvania speed plant. Since the facility opened in 2001, the track has hosted over 400,000 people who have watched the exciting action on the 3/8s mile progressively banked paved oval.

LES runs on Friday nights and features compound progressive banking in all four corners featuring Six-12 Degrees of elevated incline. The entire 3/8s mile is a spacious 60 feet wide with a 12 foot apron all along the bottom of the track itself.

A regular Friday night of racing features LES Late Models, which are virtually identical to the ASALMS. In addition, Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Figure 8s, Legends, and Bandolero's are also on the weekly card. For more information, please visit the LES website at: www.lakeeriespeedway.com
