Bickle Set to Return to Jefferson Speedway with ASA Midwest Tour
DAYTONA
BEACH, FL (May 9, 2007) – Super Late Model racing will return to Jefferson
Speedway Saturday May 19 as the stars of the American Speed Association Kwik
Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment take on the local
heroes of the quarter-mile asphalt oval in the running of the Jefferson 100
presented by Lancaster Toyota.
Rich Bickle from Edgerton, Wisconsin, has competed in the top-tier of NASCAR
on and off since 1989 and was runner up to the Craftsman Truck Series
championship in 1997. “I expect good strong competition. There are some new
drivers I don’t know and inevitably there’s going to be some fender
benders on that bullring. It’s just kind of neat to get back to Jefferson
where I started out 30 years ago. I led the first six laps of my first feature
there and Denny Bandt (present owner of FasTrax Racing Magazine) t-boned me
and I flew off into the cornfield. It’s changed quite a bit since then,”
Bickle laughed. |

“Rich Bickle has been a household name in Wisconsin for over 20 years.
He’s going back to Jefferson Speedway to run a super late model for the
first time in as many years and this will be extra special for many of the
loyal Jefferson fans. It’s my goal to get Rich back racing full time in 2008
with us in the ASA Midwest Tour and I am honored that he’s joining us at his
original home track Jefferson Speedway,” stated series VP Steve Einhaus.
Bickle, who spends the majority of his free time restoring collector cars and
hot rods dating back as early as the 1930’s in his race shop located in
Edgerton, WI noted his interest in a hand full of Midwest Tour events. “I
truly believe that this series has every piece of the puzzle that it needs to
be the number one choice for the traveling racer. I am working on a brand new
car for 2008 but outside of Jefferson I am pretty excited to get back to
Grundy County Speedway, Madison, and WIR in August. I can promise you that I
am going there with all intentions to win,” exclaimed Bickle.
