ASA Midwest Tour Engine Giveaway Program Gaining Momentum

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (April 16, 2007) –In an effort to support “built motor” engine builders and the engine parts manufacturer industry, the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment is pleased to announce the give away of two engines valued at over $50,000 at the 2007 championship banquet, according to ASAMT VP Steve Einhaus.

“The race season is just two weeks away and the engine giveaway program is gaining attention all over the map. Since we announced the program its been quietly sitting out there as an added bonus to racing in the Tour. Now more and more racers have heard about it and have spread the word and the inquiries for information have skyrocketed,” Einhaus stated.

Pro Power Racing of Sullivan, Wisconsin, the recent winner of two back-to-back Engine Builder of the Year Awards, and B&B Racing Engines of Appleton, Wisconsin, have stepped up to build both a brand new Chevrolet 9:1 and an A.C.E. Motor for the Tour. The engines will be given away in a drawing from teams that have competed in 75 percent of the ASA Midwest Tour events with a built unsealed engine, finish in the top 20 in point standings and are officially registered with the Tour.

“I have never seen anything like this before and I can’t thank the Schlieper Brothers, Bruce Mueller, and the engine parts manufacturing suppliers enough for their support,” stated Einhaus.

“When crate engines come in, it takes the engine builders out of the mix because they are sealed engines from GM, Ford, and Dodge. There are a lot of ‘mom-and-pop companies, parts manufacturers, and single-man operations that could get completely wiped out of the whole racing industry,” Pro Power Racing owner Bill Schlieper explained.

Pro Power Racing has been the leader in a newly formed program titled Racers Alliance Concerning Engines (RACE) and has helped develop point fund support on the national level to help the racers out financially be able to afford built engines.

“We want to be a part of the race teams and it’s always exciting to be able to go down to victory lane when our engines win,” Schlieper concluded, “That’s why we are trying to pull engine builders together so we can all win as a team and support the racers.”

B&B racing engines owner Bruce Mueller is also honored to take part in the ASA Midwest Tour incentive program. “With RACE we are trying to work real hard to keep everyone together to weather the storm (of crate motor popularity). I am very pleased to be able to give something back to the racers on this deal- it’s a huge bonus for those running the entire schedule. The two racers who win the motors at the banquet are essentially each adding $25,000 to their pocketbooks in thanks from the builders, the manufacturers, and ASA for running the Tour with built engines. Steve Einhaus took it upon himself to reach out to the manufacturers and ask them for parts contributions, so Bill (at Pro Power) and I are happy to help give back to those that support the Tour and us,” Mueller expressed.

“I can’t decide if I am more excited to see who the winners of the engines are or who the inaugural season champion is,” Einhaus chuckled, “There is a lot on the line for drivers to win and for those that support the series all year long.”

The ASA Midwest Tour inaugural season opener is scheduled at Elko Speedway April 28, 2007.
