Ryan Brings “A-Game” To American Speed Association Midwest Tour
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 16, 2007) – The American Speed Association Kwik
Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment has signed
24-year-old Jake Ryan of Farmington, MN for the inaugural 2007 season.
“The Tour is a good deal because it’s close to home. You’re not driving
all over the country and you get to compete against a lot of the same drivers
you would at home. It keeps it local,” said Ryan.
“We are excited to have such a great competitor as Jake joining the mix of
drivers looking to be the first Tour Champion,” stated ASAMT President Tim
Olson, “He is a rising star in the Midwest racing community and he is always
a contender for the win. He is exciting to watch.”
Ryan has been racing since 1999. He was the Rookie of the Year in the
Sportsman division at the Elko Speedway (MN). He stayed in the Sportsman
division through 2001 when he finished fourth in point standings as a result
of numerous fast time qualifying and three wins. In 2002, he won the first
feature he ever entered in the Mid-American Stock Car Series and lead points
all season long until experiencing a mechanical failure on the last night of
competition. He finished the season third in points and was named Rookie of
the Year. In 2003 he won the Mid-American Stock Car Series event at the
Milwaukee Mile and also picked up five other wins in the series. Jake moved
into late model racing in 2004 and was the Super Late Model Rookie of the Year
at Elko Speedway, ranking third in the point standings with four wins and 10
fast times. He was also voted Most Popular Driver. Ryan competed in the AC
Delco Super Summer Series and finished second in points. Jake repeated at Most
Popular Driver at Elko Speedway in 2005 and had a stellar season with six
straight wins (eight total for the year) and ranking third in championship
standings. In 2006 he competed in 17 events at Elko Speedway in NASCAR Weekly
Racing and 8 events in the ASA Late Model Series with a combined five wins and
16 top-five finishes.
“There are good people running the Tour. Tim (Olson, President) and Steve (Einhaus,
Vice President) both have a lot of experience,” Ryan stated.
Ryan will make his ASA Midwest Tour debut April 28, 2007 at his home track,
Elko Speedway.
“Elko is a sweet deal because it’s right in my backyard - it’s my home
track. Everyone gets all jacked up for the opener and there should be a big
car count with drivers bringing their A-game. It will be a good night and it
would be cool to win the first race at Elko with the ASA Midwest Tour running
it,” Ryan concluded.
