American Speed Association Acquaints Fans With Midwest Tour’s Iverson
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 11, 2007) – The American Speed Association Kwik
Trip Midwest Tour presented by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment is pleased to
announce Jamie Iverson of Escanaba, MI as a championship contender for the
inaugural 2007 season.
“This gives us the opportunity to travel again. We’ve always enjoyed
traveling. The team of people that have put this series together possess a ton
of racing knowledge and I believe it will be a great success," stated
Iverson cheerfully.
Jamie is a force to be reckoned with wherever he goes. He started racing in
motocross when he was young, and started racing at his home track of Norway
(MI) in 1992 in the street stock division. Jamie inherited his father’s (Bob
Iverson) late model in 1994 and he won Rookie of the Year with second place in
the championship standings. While Iverson is known as a top competitor across
the Midwest, he still manages to compete weekly at Norway and has recorded
seven track championships between 1995 and 2006.
"I have been have been reading Jamie Iverson's name in racing papers for
many years and just about every article featured him in Winners Cirle. His
father has alot of history in short track racing and he has surely filled his
shoes so we are glad to have the Iverson team on board for the 2007
Championship run," stated series VP Steve Einhaus
Jamie won the 1998 National Small Car Championships at the Rockford Speedway
racing a Baby Grand National car in a clean sweep performance. In 1999 the
team competed a lot at tracks in central Wisconsin (Golden Sands, Marshfield,
and the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna) to gain experience at
different facilities for both driver and crew. In 2002 Jamie raced fulltime
Thursday nights at WIR with the Fox River Racing Club and finished seventh in
championship standings and also earned an award as the Most Improved Driver.
In 2003 Iverson ran in the Midwest All-Star Racing Series (MARS) and ranked
second in points. Jamie stayed close to home in 2004 racing weekly at WIR and
Norway and winning eight out of the nine feature races he entered at Norway.
In 2005 he finished second overall in the prestigious Red, White, and Blue
triple-race series at WIR and won the Stateline Challenge at Norway, both
significant feats for Iverson. He repeated as Stateline Challenge winner in
2006 as well as winning feature events at four different tracks including the
season opener at the Golden Sands Speedway (Plover, WI). Jamie a multi-time
Auto Value Challenge Series Champion at Norway and holds the late model track
record at Norway, set May 1999, with a lap of 14.183 seconds.
Jamie’s wife of 21 years, Julie Iverson, is also excited about the season
ahead with the ASAMT, expressing, “The Tour gives us the opportunity to
revisit some of the tracks we ran at with the MARS series along with tracks we
have never run at. That makes it more of a challenge as some of the tracks we
have never even seen. Our pit crewmembers also enjoyed the years that we spent
traveling and are very supportive in this endeavor. The ASAMT is also very
reminiscent of the ARTGO series in which Jamie's dad used to run. Another
appealing point of the ASAMT was that one of Jamie's long time goals was to
run at as many tracks as his dad has. This will give him the opportunity to
add more to his list.”
Iverson is an ASAMT Kwik Trip Touring Star for the 2007 season. "I am
honored to have been selected for the KwikTrip Touring Stars program. Looking
at the list of announced names you see a very competitive group of respected
racers. I’m honored to be part of that elite group. I’d like to thank
KwikTrip for partnering with the ASAMT and making this opportunity possible.
Although there are none near my home in the UP of Michigan, you can bet
we’ll be patronizing their stores when traveling," Jamie stated.
“We will carry long time sponsor, Dow Dawson Trucking, along with J. Iverson
Trucking, Ward’s Auto Body and Sales, Competition Specialists, Northside
Automotive, and Delta Paint and Sandblast. We would also like to thank
Wendricks Truss, Miss Dig System of MI, Superior Welding and C&T
Excavating for their previous participation with Iverson Motorsports,” Julie
added.
Jamie and Julie have two children, Mandy (20), and Rob (17).
Jamie will make his ASA Midwest Tour debut April 28, 2007 at the Elko
Speedway.
