American Speed Association Commits Haseleu To Midwest Tour
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 2, 2007) – The American Speed Association
Midwest Tour presented by Echo has signed Nathan Haseleu of Pardeeville, WI as
a championship contender for the inaugural 2007 season.
“This is really exciting for the whole team. My car owners Gary and Jo
Schultz had a car that Larry Schuler drove for them in ARTGO. This series
sounds a lot like that and we’re all happy to see John McKarns so involved
with it. We’re looking forward to having a super late model series that
travels across the Midwest. It will give my sponsor The Swiss Colony more
exposure and that’s great,” Haseleu energetically expressed.
Nathan has a winning record with 74 feature wins to his credit. In 2006 he won
his second consecutive Wisconsin Challenge Series championship with a four-win
streak mid-season. He is the only driver to record two championships in the
WCS and holds the record of most total wins. One of those 2006 WCS victories
included the event at the legendary Milwaukee Mile where 71 cars registered.
In the same season he also won the Champions Invitational at the Madison
International Speedway (WI), the CRA Super Series event at the Illiana
Speedway (IN), and finished third in Madison Late model point standings.
Haseleu started racing in 1994 at the age of 16 in the Hobby Stock division.
He won Rookie of the Year honors at both the Columbus 151 Speedway (WI) and
Jefferson Speedway (WI). He won the season championship at Columbus 151 in
1994 and again in 1995, also picking up the championship at Jefferson in 1995.
In 1996 he focused on late model competition at Columbus 151, finishing third
in points, winning the Hard Charger award for passing the most cars in feature
events, and capturing Rookie of the Year honors. He won the track championship
in 1997 and repeated as Hard Charger. Nathan broadened his horizons in 1998
and started traveling. He won a feature race at the Madison International
Speedway in only his second career start in a super late model. He also
competed in four NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series. Haseleu was really on a roll
by 1999, claiming six super late model feature wins at the Dells Motor
Speedway (WI), winning the Miller Classic at Madison, and finishing the NASCAR
RE/MAX Challenge Series with one Bud Pole award, two top five, and seven top
ten finishes.
In 2000, Nathan competed in 17 super late model races, winning nine of them
and recording top five finishes in thirteen of them. He built on the previous
year with a repeat win of the Miller Classic, one Bud Pole, one win, seven top
five, and ten top ten finishes in the NASCAR Midwest Series (as it was then
known).
The local success put Nathan in the national spotlight. He landed a ride in
the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for 12 races in 2001 and recorded four top
ten finishes.
Haseleu returned to super late model racing in 2002, competing in 33 feature
races and winning nine. Three of his wins were in the Midwest All-Star Racing
Series and he finished second in championship standings for the series. He
again won the Miller Classic at Madison and recorded twenty-one top five and
25 top ten finishes for the year. In 2003 Nathan won two races at Madison and
ran a limited 10-race schedule in 2004 but added another win to his resume at
Madison.
Nathan pulled off a full effort in 2005 competing in both super late model and
Madison Late Model activities. He won the Wisconsin Challenge Series
championship with three wins. He won nine super late model feature races and
five Madison Late Model races, finishing second in division standings despite
missing two events. In 2005, he also won the coveted Miller Lite Nationals
250-lap late model feature at the Slinger Speedway (WI). Fifty cars timed in
for the event, including Rich Bickle, Erik Darnell, Dick Trickle, Ron Hornaday,
Todd Kluever, Kelly Biers, and Kerry Earnhardt.
“The ASA Midwest Tour has a lot of great people involved. Steve is a real
go-getter and has a lot of ideas. The Advisory Board has a lot of great people
who are going to make things happen and keep this growing,” Haseleu
responded about how the ASAMT is going to be different from his previous
experiences, “We’re going to get a chance to race against the best drivers
and we’ll be good.”
Haseleu is hoping to be chosen as one of the Touring Stars and qualifying for
the Traveling Incentive Program for the 2007 season. “It will really help
out with travel and will ensure a core group of top competitors at every
race,” Nathan said.
“Nathan has all of the pieces of a puzzle put together with great car owners
in Gary & Jo Schultz and a fantastic sponsor in The Swiss Colony. The ASA
Midwest Tour has to offer a series that will help all of the race facilities
we attend to be successful and having Nathan on board with us shows that we
have a lot to offer to our fans. He treats the officials with respect and
races very clean with his competitors, showing why he is a winner,”
commented ASAMT Vice-President Steve Einhaus.
Haseleu will be making his debut at the ASA Midwest Tour inaugural season
opener at Elko Speedway April 28, 2007. He is particularly excited about the
Tuesday night race at the Wisconsin International Raceway August 7. “It’s
going to be a pretty big night for the series and I’m looking forward to
it,” Nathan concluded.
