Elko Speedway To Host Inaugural ASA Midwest Tour Event
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (December 21, 2006) -Since the announcement of the formation
of the all new ASA Midwest Tour, the response from drivers and racetracks
throughout the Midwest has been overwhelming, with several facilities
expressing interest in hosting events during the inaugural 2007 season.
One of those tracks is the Elko (MN) Speedway, located just south of the
Minneapolis/ St. Paul metro area, the 14th largest market in the United
States. Elko Speedway owner Tom Ryan is so excited about hosting the inaugural
event, he asked if could break protocol and announce his event now before the
full schedule is released.
"You just can’t believe how happy this makes me to see a series, where
local drivers can compete against the stars of the ASA Midwest Tour, while
gaining national exposure in front of a hometown crowd," Ryan said.
"We at Elko Speedway are, extremely energized to have been selected to
host the ASA Midwest Tour Inaugural event on Saturday April 28th. This is what
this region needed and it is a perfect fit for our facility.
Tom Ryan has made Elko Speedway one of the finest short track facilities in
the country and it’s an honor for us to hold our first event of 2007 at this
racetrack, Stated Tim Olson. We have put together what we feel is a very racer
friendly schedule that will benefit all of the racetracks, their fans and
their local competitors. Our inaugural event on April 28th will give the local
fans what they have been asking for when the Elko competitors take on the
traveling stars.
Look for future announcements concerning the remainder of the 2007 schedule in
the near future, as the ASA Midwest Tour may be coming to a track near you.
Competitors needing immediate schedule information can contact the series
office. A tentative 2007 schedule will be released very soon.
The ASA Midwest Tour is a regional touring series set to hold races in
Minnesota, Iowa, Upper Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin in 2007. A 10-12-race
schedule is planned featuring the popular Upper Midwest Super Late Models. The
series allows local competitors to enter ASA Midwest Tour races using many of
the same rules and procedures that their local short-track has.
