Rains Bring About First ABC Cancellation Since June
by Nick Gima

Ashland, WI, July 29 -- Although they are long overdue in this region, the rains were nevertheless unwelcome when they began in earnest just as hot laps were about to begin Satruday night, forcing ABC Raceway officials to cancel the track’s Northern State Bank-sponsored program.

Action at the 3/8th-mile red clay oval will continue on Saturday, August 5, with the rescheduled conclusion of the Bad River Lodge & Casino Modified Triple Header, which was shortened by rain on June 17 - the last time a race program at the Ashland speedway was affected by wet weather. The other four regular ABC divisions - super stocks, street stocks, six-cylinders and pure stocks - will also be in action.

Hot laps will begin at 6:15 pm and the first green flag of the night will drop at 7. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. “Racenight Live” will air Saturday on WJJH, 96.7 & 102.3 FM, with up-to-date track news and weather information. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, .
