(Kaukauna, WI) Green Bay native Scott Hansen is the latest entry into the NASCAR REMAX Challenge Series Oneida Bingo & Casino 250, Tuesday, August 6th at Wisconsin International Raceway (WIR) located just south of Kaukauna, WI. After several track championships at WIR, Hansen moved his racing operation to Franklin, WI and has concentrated mainly in the American Speed Association (ASA) series.

Another former WIR track champion will be honored at the event, Winston Cup standout Matt Kenseth. “It’ll be a big night for Matt and I always enjoyed racing against him,” said Hansen, “I wouldn’t miss taking part in honoring him for anything.” Along with an hour autograph session, Kenseth will be receiving special honors from race fans that night.

Hansen’s last visit to the “D” shaped half-mile track was a busy one. He raced in all 3 major divisions during the Oneida Bingo & Casino ‘Rev It Up races June 6-9. Hansen finished 11th in the NASCAR 250 and then piloted his ASA car to a 7th place finish in the 300 finale.

Hansen has had some luck with the August NASCAR race at WIR. “I won back in 1993 when it was the ARTGO Challenge Series and then came back and won in 1999. That was great because I swept both REMAX races at WIR that season,” recalled Hansen. Hansen was the 1984 ARTGO Challenge Series Rookie of the Year.

“Someone’s got to be there to try to stop Carlson,” Hansen commented referring to RCS points leader Steve Carlson of West Salem, WI who has won the last three NASCAR races at WIR. “I think I’m just the one to do it.” Drivers representing at least 5 states will be joining Hansen and Carlson for the racing activities including former NRCS Champion Brian Hoppe, Verona, WI, many time WIR Late Model Track Champion Terry Baldry, Omro WI, Jon Lemke of Greenfield, MN, and Sparta, WI’s Tim Schendel who is the latest winner with the series, picking up his first win of his REMAX career at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, CO July 27th.
