Plymouth, WI
On a beautiful night for racing, EWSC fans saw Billy Kreutz, Kiel, claim the 40 lap Winged Super Modified
Pat Rand Memorial/Mid-Season Championship A-Main sponsored by Sheboygan Chevrolet. Nate Winkel,
Oostburg, found victory lane in the Limited Late Models and the Super
Stock feature was won by Sheboygan's Jeff Leonhard. Duane Dippel, Plymouth, made it back to back wins in
the All-American Mighty 4's.
At the drop of the green flag, Glenbeulah's Gary Laack found himself upside-down on the frontstretch. After
getting the field reset, polesitter Billy Hafemann, Cedar Grove, took the lead and by lap 21 found himself
dealing with lapped traffic. Riding the cushion, Kreutz made his move on lap 22.
The field was slowed down on lap 25 for the ride of KenJay Fiedler, Sheboygan Falls, spinning in turn 2.
Kreutz held off the hard charging Paul Pokorski, West Bend, to claim the victory. Trailing behind Kreutz and
Pokorski was Billy Hafemann, Campbellsports Butch Hafemann, and Tony Wondra, West Bend.
Fast time was set by Billy Hafemann and the Tuschl Septic Systems Hard Charger Award was claimed by
Paul Pokorski for passing 8 cars.
The 15 lap B-Main saw Plymouth's Dave Deicher take the lead and by lap 7 he was maneuvering through
lapped traffic. On lap 8, Barry Maas, Cascade, went to the high side to challenge Deicher. The two
exchanged the lead several times until lap 10 when Maas took the lead for good. Following Maas across the
line was Deicher, Matt VanWyk, Sheboygan Falls, Slinger's Tom Johnson, and Chuck Tuschl, Whitelaw.
Sheboygan's Henry Dickmann jumped out to the lead in the 30 lap Limited Late Model feature. Cautions on
laps 1 and 3 slowed down the field. On lap 18, Nate Winkel, Oostburg, took control. With the yellow coming
out on laps 25 and 26, Winkel set the pace on the restarts. Dickmann, still not giving up, was running door to
door with Winkel on lap 28. Winkel closed the door and finished ahead of Dickmann, Fredonia's Jason Allen,
Rick Thompson, Campbellsport and Plymouth's Scott Haugstad.
JJ Walvoord, Oostburg, claimed fast time and the Bob Akright Memorial Hard Charger Award was awarded
to Rick Thompson for passing 10 cars.
In the 12 lap Limited Late Model Semi-feature, Matt Buckman, Plymouth, paced the field the entire race.
The race was slowed on laps 2 and 4 for debris and for the car of Sheboygan's Dave Herr spinning in turn 4.
Chasing Buckman at the line was Larry Berg, Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls' Matt Yancey, and Keith Borth,
Sheboygan.
Jeff Leonhard, Sheboygan, took the lead of the 25 lap Super Stock feature. The cars of Brian Genske and
Doug Teunissen, both of Sheboygan Falls, and Elkhart Lake's Bradley Ruh got together bringing out the
caution on lap 10. On lap 25, Leonhard was being challenged by Ben Schmidt, Kiel, and Cleveland's Steve
Schad. Leonhard held on for the win followed by Schmidt, Schad, and Terry McCoy, Hingham.
Fast time was set by Plymouth's Brian Gilles and the Hard Charger Award went to Ben Schmidt and John
Dirks, Elkhart Lake for passing 7 cars.
Sheboygan's Jamie Theobald took the lead of the 15 lap Super Stock Semi-feature. The yellow flag was
waved on lap 2 for spins. Following Theobald to the line was Scott Landgraf, Sheboygan, Kiel's Josh Gierke,
and Adam/Cory Brasser, Plymouth.
Jamie Gauger, Sheboygan, took the lead of the 20 lap All-American Mighty 4's race. On lap 5, Gauger
encountered mechanical problems and relinquished the lead to Plymouth's Duane Dippel. On lap 6, Dippel
found himself weaving through lapped traffic. Chasing Dippel to the finish line was Jeremy Sauter, Sheboygan
Falls, Plymouth's Tim Sauter, Brian Stern, Fond du Lac, and Chris Blanke, Kiel.
Racing will resume next Saturday, July 13, at the Sheboygan County Fair Park, with a complete EWSC
points program along with the MSA 360 sprint cars. There will be no qualifying, so a progressive format will be
followed. Racing begins at 6:00.
