ELKO, MN- West Salem, WI native Steve Carlson has filed his entry for the NASCAR NorthStar 150 this Saturday night at Elko Speedway. Carlson, who is tied with legendary Dick Trickle with seven career NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series Championships will also be competing in the Great Clips 300 on Sunday afternoon.

Saturday night action will see Carlson behind the wheel of the Classic Hits WLOL 100.3 FM Dodge Intrepid, the same mount Carlson races weekly at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway when his touring schedule allows him. The Fall Festival of Speed was not kind to Carlson on Saturday night last year, he and local favorite Jon Lemke spun while battling for the top spot. The NASCAR NorthStar 150 promises to be a rematch, as both drivers are slated to compete.

Carlson heads into Sunday with a fifty-two point advantage over Brian Hoppe in the season long battle for the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series Championship. Including Sundays race at Elko, just three races and Brian Hoppe stand between Carlson and his eighth title. Three days of racing highlight the 12th annual Great Clips Fall Festival of Speed. The Mid-American Stock Car 75 will take place on Friday night, with the NASCAR NorthStar 150 on Saturday night and the Great Clips 300 bringing the season to a close this Sunday afternoon.
