"HUMAN BOMB" To Explode At Forest County Potawatomi X-Treme Thunderfest At Crandon Raceway

CRANDON, WI -- The "Human Bomb", a motorcycle daredevil who blows himself up with TNT, will be one of the star attractions at the 2nd Annual Forest County Potawatomi X-treme Thunderfest, Friday evening, August 30 at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The X-treme Thunderfest is the prelude to the largest off-road racing spectacle in the country -- the annual BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Race at Crandon this coming Labor Day weekend.

Joining the "Human Bomb" for the 7:30 p.m. Friday evening X-treme Thunderfest, will be such notable Monster Trucks as The Destroyer, American Dream, Devastator and Pony Express. The mega-horsepower Monster Trucks will crush cars, perform stunts and do freestyle acrobatics. "Just like our pickup truck races, we have Ford versus Chevy in a clash of the titans", said Cliff Flannery, president of Crandon Raceway. "The Monsters will provide real ‘Thunder in the Valley’ racing thrills," he said. "We will be lighting the front half of our track making a 3/4-mile race park," he said.

Also part of the Forest County Potawatomi Friday Night X-treme Thunderfest will be TNT Speedway Figure 8 stock car racing featuring Bomber and Stinger class cars. "We are also excited about the new Triple XXX Moto-cross Team performing aerial acrobatics at Crandon," said Flannery. "This is the first time professional Moto-cross acrobatics, which is hugely popular across the country, has performed in this area," he said. The Monster Trucks will make three appearances, including rounds of car crushing, donuts and the freestyle program. The "Human Bomb" will also perform various motorcycle stunts and jump the Ring of Fire.

Crandon Raceway is expecting a record turnout for the grand-daddy of all off-road races -- the BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races. "Our adult camping is sold-out, although we have general camping spaces available", said Flannery. "We wanted to provide additional racing entertainment for our fans so we developed the Friday Night X-treme Thunderfest with the Forest County Potawatomi," he said.

Following the Friday night program, Saturday heralds the 33rd annual off-road World Championships. Upwards of 325 racers in various classes will be competing for World Championship titles over the weekend. "The Crandon World Championships draw the largest number of off-road racers in the country," said Jeff Kincaid, one of the local racers from Argonne, WI, and perennial champion who pilots the Forest County Potawatomi Toyota in the Pro Lite class. "Fans are packed in elbow to elbow to watch the races and as a driver you can feel the adrenaline and the pressure associated with racing and winning at Crandon," he commented. Vehicle classes include GOBs, entry-level buggies, compact pickup trucks, high performance 4x4 race trucks, and several others.

On Sunday, Lucas Oil Championship Off-Road Racing Series action continues all day. It is the final race of the off-road season. Then, the much-anticipated 8th annual World Championship Manufacturers’ Shootout for the $100,000 BorgWarner cup is scheduled for 4 p.m. The event is one of the premier off-road races in the country. The winner receives the largest purse for any single event in off-road racing. Last years’ winner -- Rob MacCachren, Las Vegas, NV, took home more than $36,000 for the 10-lap Shootout. "The purse is a gigantic sum for off-road racing," said Flannery. "But equally important is for the winning driver to be forever immortalized on the sterling silver and gold BorgWarner Cup," he noted. Drivers who win the race have their name, race details and truck logo permanently affixed to the 44-inch cup. The cup is then presented to the winning truck manufacturer for display. "Winning the BorgWarner Shootout means going down in motorsports history as an exceptional racer," said Flannery.

In addition to Forest County Potawatomi and BorgWarner, other key sponsors at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway include Trail Master, Snap-On Tools, American Axle, Rancho, BF Goodrich, Indian Springs Lodge, Goodyear, Coca-Cola, Miller Lite, Bergstrom Ford, Johnsonville Sausage, Ford Trucks, KC Hilites, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Brands, Miller Electric Welders, Baumgart Tire, Precision Gear, Parsons Chevrolet, Amsoil, Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Bluffs at Horseshoe Bay, Associated Bank, Potawatomi Bingo Northern Lights Casino, among others.
