Mother Nature Vs. 141 Speedway Part 2
Francis Creek,WI

Earlier this year, Mother Nature spoiled 141 Speedway track owner, Matt Rowe's, plans to host a 5th year track re-opening anniversary special with heavy rains. Well this time, Rowe and the eager race fans won. Rain washed out the qualifying events for the night except for the Mini-Stock's, and after a one hour delay, racing was on and so was the competition.
Troy Selner of Green Bay, not only broke the 141 Speedway track record in the Mini Stock's again last night but he did it twice making it 5 on the year. Selner's times of 13.888 and 13.862 bettered his track record of 13.952 back in June of this year. As for the feature event, lady luck was not on his side as Mishicot's Mark Christensen made a late race charge in the 25 lap feature event for the win. Christensen passed Manitowoc's Scott Bauer on lap 21 to secure the win. Manty's Mike Oswald quickly lost the pole in this one as Jason Sand got a great jump at the start of the race, but lost it when he crashed on lap 5 with Wonder Lake, Illinois' Bill Mecha and Sheboygan's Dave Senkbeil. All 3 were sent to the pits with damage. Christensen took adavantage of another caution brought out by Josh Lammers who got into it with two other cars on lap 12 to set his sights on Bauer. 2nd- Oswald, 3rd-Bauer, 4th- Chris Yerges Green Bay, 5th- Jason Novak Manitowoc.
Mishicot's Josh Sand held the pole in the 25 lap Super Stock feature of the night and it was a position he held to the checkered flag. Sand had to hold off race charges by Paul Rabas and Andy Casavant throughout the race and at times, the three ran bumper to bumper through several laps and several minor cautionary periods. The second half of the race saw the three move ahead of the rest of the pack, but great driving by Sand made the man from Mishicot, WI. a race winner from flag to flag. 2nd-Rabas, 3rd- Casavant, 4th- Allen Trudell Kaukauna, WI., 5th- Derek Rosek Denmark , WI.
The Papa John's Mid-Am's were back in action after taking a week off last week, and for Random Lake, Wisconsin's Josh Bauer, things are beginning to look quite easy at the 141 Speedway. Bauer waited until lap 41 of the 50 lap feature to race past 4 cars to secure his win at the 141, the 2nd feature win of the year for Bauer. Monte Strouf held the pole in this race and the battle between him and Green Bay's Ben Kroll went on for 32 laps before three time 141 Speedway track champion, Greg Haese Two Rivers, WI., worked his way into the second position. 141 Speedway Rookie of the Year contender, Travis Groelle Manitowoc, held tight as Haese went by him, but neither could power their ride's to the front and Bauer went on for the win. 2nd-Haese, 3rd-Michael Rahn Depere, WI., 4th-Kroll, 5th- Groelle. With a second place finish, the team of Haese/Bricker moved into second place in the points race, behind Michael Rahn.
Maribel, Wisconsin's Don Wood saw black and white in his future in the Hobby Stock feature event at the 141 Speedway last night, as he cruised to his first feature victory without much worry as to who was behind him. Wood got past pole sitter, Andy Waack early in this one and staved off challenges by Whitelaw's Kevin Wellner and Manitowoc's Travis Rodewald, though half way through the race, all eyes were on the battle for second between Rodewald and Wellner. Neither could find enough horses to look to the front as Wood cruised to victory. 2nd- Wellner, 3rd-Rodewald, 4th- Jolene Mueller Manitowoc, WI., 5th- Crystal Koenig Denmark, WI.
