Lawnmowers At 141 Speedway

Maribel, WI - 20 years ago it was an underground movement, but now they’re nationwide!  Perhaps you’ve seen some of their races on ESPN2, the Outdoor Channel, or Speed.  Or, maybe you caught the Discovery Channel special on the subject.  Regardless, the Wisconsin based chapter of this fast growing series is coming to the 141 Speedway this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Competitors have spent literally thousands of dollars taking their garden tractors to the extreme.  Starting with a typical 20 horsepower riding mower, some of the mowers now put out in excess of 50 horsepower and they are lowered down and “set up” to run around the 1/8th mile oval circuit. Speeds can exceed 60 mph in the experimental division.  Participants wear motocross style gear for when they tumble and fall.   If you’d like to get involved, there’s even a stock class where the only modification is removal of the blades!  For more lawnmower racing action visit www.WILMRA.com
