Riedner Wins 141 April Fools Enduro
April 1, 2007: Francis Creek, WI - Brandon “Bud” Riedner of Waunakee
topped a record April field of 95 cars to score his first Tisler Salvage
Enduro Series victory Sunday afternoon at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.
Riedner not only had to contend with 94 other racers vying for the $1,000 top
prize in the 300-lap event, but a mixed bag of weather as well. The
Tisler series is run rain or shine, and Sunday provided a sampling of both.
Heavy rain hit the Speedway just prior to the drop of green, with showers
continuing off and on through the course of the afternoon. The first
100-lap session proved to be a duel between previous winners Terry Kust and
David Beyer for the top spot. Beyer took command as Kust was involved in
a spin, pacing the field to the first mandatory pit stop.
Beyer continued out front during the second 100 lap segment, putting every
other contender at least one lap down.
Riedner was in second as the field resumed racing for the final 100 laps –
one lap behind Beyer. But on lap 223, Beyer hit some debris on the
track, cutting a tire in the process. His crew got him back out quickly,
keeping him in the top five, but not before Riedner took control.
Beyer’s problems elevated Riedner and Kust back to the lead lap, with
Riedner holding a three-quarter-lap advantage. Kust remained in
contention until the 272nd lap, when a flat forced him into a late pit stop.
From that point, Riedner cruised to the win, followed by second place finisher
Duke Truttmann. Truttmann passed Ben Dauost on the final lap to grab the
runner-up spot. Kust and Todd Hebel completed the top five. Beyer
was involved in a late race incident, which dropped with from second.
The next race in the Tisler Compact Car series will be Sunday, May 27th at
7:00pm. The 2007 regular season will kick off Saturday night, April 28th
with the annual Spring Fling opener, with time trials at 5:00pm and racing at
7:00. A special on-track autograph session will take place at 6:00pm
