Graziano Wins Fourth Straight "Creepy Classic" At 141 Speedway
A combination of sunny skies and winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour greeted
the fans Saturday at 141 Speedway for the Annual Tisler Salvage “Creepy
Classic” 300 lap enduro race.
Jay Welsing of Green Bay led the opening laps with last year’s track champ
David Beyer in hot pursuit. Beyer overtook Welsing on lap eleven and looked
strong early.
However, early bad luck would punish Beyer as he had a flat tire that would
send him to the pits and give up the lead to Lee Kielpikowski of Green Bay who
held the point all the way to the mandatory caution flag at lap 100 which sent
all the cars to the pits for gas and tires.
On the restart, Lee “Kip” paced the field with Terry Kust, rookie Kyle
Stark, Todd Welsing and brother Jay Welsing rounding out the top five.
By lap 135, Stark had worked his way to the front passing Kielpikowski and
pulling away from the field. Terry Kust continued to give chase but Stark
appeared to have things in hand until lap 177 when he got caught up in slower
traffic and three-time race winner Mike Graziano moved into the lead.
Graziano held on to the lap 200 break and continued to lead when the race
resumed with Greg Banker of Seymour running second almost a lap down.
Banker used everything he had to try to catch the leader and moved to within
2/1000th of a second at one point but was never able to pass Graziano who
picked up his fourth “Creepy Classic” win.
Todd Hebel of Branch finished third in the race and second overall in the
point’s race for the season. Jay Welsing was third (tenth on the season)
with Terry Kust fifth (third on the season).
There was a twenty lap exhibition race on the tracks new proposed 1/3 mile
race track, half asphalt and half clay at this point. That was handily won by
Kyle Stark.
The next event at 141 will be January 1, 2007 with the New Years Day Classic
three-hundred lap enduro race.
