Mid Americans At 141 Speedway

The Mid American Stock Car Series returns to the 141 Speedway this Saturday Night, July 15th for the 5th Annual Dick Grall Memorial 60. The race was originally scheduled for June 24th, but rain showers followed time trials and washed out the nights racing.  16 of the 28 cars in attendance that night have already earned spots in the starting field, but an additional 4 will be added from a 15 lap last chance race that proceeds the main event.

Fortunately for the scoring staff, the 141 Speedway uses a computerized electronic transponder scoring system similar to Nascar’s as the Mid American Stock cars round the quarter mile oval in 12 seconds.  With  20 cars starting the feature, the leaders should expect lapped traffic by lap 10, and a full night of 2 and 3 wide racing.

The 141 Speedway is said to be the toughest stop on the tour, and based on qualifying it’s easy to see why.  Local drivers have been playing spoiler to the series cars.  Quick Time was set by Menchallville’s Monte Strouf , and 10 other local drivers have qualified for the feature. Interestingly enough, 4 of the top 5 point contenders from the series struggled in qualifying and are not in by time. The point leader, George Schuultz of Bristol Wisconsin needed a provisional starting spot. Second place contender James Swan, is the pole car in the Last Chance race.  The race is also significant for the local 141 Speedway Point Chase, currently lead by Whitelaw’s Daryl Gerke. With the series cars in the mix, points positions are expected  to shuffle considerably.

Meet all the stars with their cars when the  night begins with an on track autograph session at 6 PM. The First race is at 7 PM. For more information check the track website www.141speedway.com
