Beyer Gets Win At 141 Speedway Enduro

A large and enthusiastic crowd celebrated Independence Day weekend at 141 Speedway by watching the Tisler Salvage Compact Car Enduro race Saturday night.

Norm Bonenfant of Manitowoc led the early laps in a Honda but he would be overtaken on lap seven by Terry Kust of Two Rivers.

The race was stopped on lap 23 the car of  Jay Welsing caught fire. Luckily no one was hurt and the race was restarted shortly thereafter.

Kust held the lead for twenty laps and then surrendered it to David Beyer of Manitowoc who led the field to the first mandatory yellow flag break at lap 100. Kust was second with Bonenfant, Frank Calabrese and Tom ruh rounding out the top five.

On the restart, Bonenfant was assessed a penalty for rough driving and dropped to thirteenth place.

Meanwhile, Beyer was checking out on the field and seemed to be unstoppable. In fact, the only thing that slowed him for the rest of the night was a red flag on lap 244 when the car of Michael Marcus caught fire coming out of turn four. Once again, no one was injured and the race continued.

Beyer would rolled on to victory serving notice on the field that he was ready to defend his 2005 track championship. Bonenfant came back to finish second with Todd Hebel, Frank Calabrese and Terry Kust completed the top five.

The next event at 141 will be the annual “Dynamite Destruction Derby” on Monday night, July 3rd at 7:00 pm. All seat are $8.00 (sorry no discount admissions for this show).

Saturday July 8th marks the return of the regular Saturday night program at 141 Speedway with “Buck Night” (one dollar beer, soda, hot dogs and popcorn!!).
