Hurricane Relief At 141 Speedway

Labor Day Weekend the 141 Speedway was host to two different races, and between the two days was able to muster up $3500 in Cash for the Hurricane Disaster Relief. The bulk of donations came on Saturday evening during the season championships. Drivers walked through the grandstand at intermission passing their helmets to the race fans. Intermission also included a 'Penny drop' for the kids. $80 in loose change was distibuted all over the raceways front straightaway and the kids were turned loose to gather it up. Amazingly these 10 and unders proved that they too are aware of the situation in the Gulf Coast, and compassionate enough to do something about it. $43, over 50% of the loose coins, were immediately donated to the disaster relief as well.

The following drivers contributed all or some of their race winnings, Greg 'T-bone' Thompson, Bob and Max Schultz, Eric Turner, Gary Novitski, Don Murray, Cory Kemkes, Jordan Thiel, Jimbo Schleis, Gary and Jeff Tisler and Jason Novak.

Sunday Night's event was a 300 Lap Endurance Race, and at lap 100 the cars were parked on the front straightaway and the drivers climbed out and took to the grandstands with their helmets to pass. All funds have been passed along to The American Red Cross.
