Kerkhoff Gets Wire to Wire Win at 141
Joe Kerkhoff of DePere showed the field why he was track champ at 141 Speedway
Saturday night by winning the feature race.
Kerkhoff led the event from start to finish and survived challenges from
former champ Gregg Haase of Two Rivers and Bob Schultz of Reedsville. Dennis
Rabas of Maribel would also threaten to take the top spot dueling with
Kerkhoff side by side for three laps before dropping back to a fourth place
finish.
Schultz would end up third right on the back bumper of Haase. Travis Groelle
would come from a last place starting spot to fifth.
The Super Stocks spent most of their feature for the second week in a row
creating "scrap metal". Kevin Charles would lead the first three
laps when Mark Christiansen spun in turn two bringing out the yellow. On the
restart, Randy Van Roy would come from the back of the pack to take the lead
and hold on for his second feature win in a row.
Greg Thompson of Denmark came back from disastrous opening night engine
meltdown to finis a close second holding off a charging Jimbo Schleis. Denny
Crass and Josh Sand were fourth and fifth respectively.
Jason Rhia of Manitowoc led the field at the drop of the green in the Mini
Stock feature followed closely by Sean Farrell of Green Bay. These two paced
the fiel until lap eleven when Kari Kostichka collided with Callin Harrell
send them both to the rear of the field and bringing out a yellow flag.
On the restart Rhia pulled out to a four car length lead and looked like he
might cruise to victory when John Senkbeil of Sheboygan completed his charge
on the outside of turn four on lap 22 of 25 taking the lead and the win. Rhia
would get second with Jason Sand, Kevin Peroutka and Sean Farrell rounding out
the top five.
Jason Rabas of Maribel won the Hobby Stock feature by a commanding margin
taking over the point lead as he attempts to repeat as track champ. Jesse and
Jason Behnke made it a family affair finishing second and third respectively
just ahead of Kyle Kudick and Pete Kumbalek.
Next week it's Prestige Auto night at 141 with the regular racing program
including the Mini Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Super Stocks and the Mid-American
Sportsman cars. Time trials at 5:30pm with racing at 7pm. For more information
