The Professor "Schools" The Field At 141 New Year's Day Enduro

"The Professor" Jeff Meulemans of Appleton was in fine form this New Years' Day as he led a field of over seventy cars to victory at 141 Speedway.

Class was in session starting on lap three when Meulemans took the lead from Terry Kust.  Kust and Kurt Naidl would battle for second follwed by John Orr and last years champ Todd Welsing.

On lap 51 the race was stopped by a red flag when Welsing lost a wheel on the backstretch. The safety crew recovered the wheel quickly however and they were back underway with Meulemans still in the lead.

Lap seventy six brought yet another red flag when the car of Jon VanderHeiden caught fire on the front stretch. VanderHeiden used quick thinking and drove the car off the racetrack and into an empty section of the outfield area where the safety crew extinguished the blaze.

At the lap 100 break it was still Jeff Meulemans in the lead followed by Orr, Marty VanDeHei, Jason Meulemans and Jamie Schmidt.

After the restart "The Professor" continued to build on his lead completing the race three laps ahead of his nearest competitor which happened to be his son Jason who held off a charging Lee Kielpikowski who never gave up after dropping to five laps down early on. Marty VanDeHei, track champ at Seymour last season, got his first top five at 141 finishing fourth just ahead of Jason Czarapata.
